Ginger Ninja (was Garfield) and Blu (was Gracie)

I was a SAFE volunteer in 2014/2015 in Karratha opening my home up to any cats or kittens needing help. Sue called me about a cat named Garfield (who I renamed Ginger Ninja) who had been found in an empty house in Tom Price. I drove straight to the kennels to pick him up and he looked so sad and scared.

Once we got home it took him a while to relax, but once he did it was like we had owned him forever. He is quite the character! He loves people and runs to the door when we have guests. He LOVES his food and will show the way to the food cupboard in the laundry. If you can't find him, try looking in the dog bed or you might find him sitting up right against a wall somewhere just chilling out.

We also fostered a litter of 1 week old kittens whose mother was so sick she had to be euthanized. These babies were tiny and the vet told me to not get too upset if they all passed away. We had to bottle feed them every few hours and clean and toilet them. It was a struggle at first but persistence pays off and all bar one became strong, healthy, playful kittens. I became way too attached to a little white girl with crystal blue eyes and couldn’t let her go. We named her Blu. She and Ginger Ninja are the best of friends. Blu has slowly changed colour over the past year and has now got a striped orange tail, orange ears and a caramel tinge to her coat. She chases balls, loves to climb inside plastic bags and be carried around in them & snuggles/suckles her blankey every night.

Thank you SAFE for bringing both cats into my life. They are a wonderful addition to my family and are much loved pets.
