What do we do?
Saving Animals from Euthanasia Busselton does exactly that! We rescue any animal that is facing death or abandonment and place them into temporary foster care. We get them healthy and vet approved and then search for new, suitable, permanent and loving homes for them.
Where do these animals come from?
The majority come from Busselton and surrounding Shire pounds after failing to be claimed and prior to being sent for euthanasia! Some animals come from people whose circumstances have changed drastically and so preventing them from keeping their pet.
We owe our success to our many volunteer members who range from professionals offering skills and services necessary to run the operation through to families offering temporary accommodation to these poor creatures.
We welcome anyone who wants to help make a difference in animal welfare to join our team; we have plenty for you to do. We are always in need of more foster carers and all sorts of other assistance. We would love to hear from you. If you are interested in adopting or becoming a carer please contact us and don't forget to check out our animal listings.
SAFE is proactive in helping to bring about positive change in the areas which cause so many unwanted, abandoned, and neglected dogs and cats, and strongly supports and promotes desexing of all domestic pets. Through positive change, the primary goal of SAFE is to make a difference in the quality of life for cats and dogs and to promote the immense value to humans of pet ownership.
We live in an ever changing world where both human and pet relationships are subject to change. At SAFE we don’t waste time and energy judging people but rather put our time and energy into finding a solution based on what is best for the pet. This goes to the heart of matching the right pet to the right owner.
Because we DO NOT have a “Death Row”, time taken to find the correct match is not a priority as we acknowledge our pets, just as ourselves, are unique and it is worth waiting to ensure the perfect match!
SAFE relies on the generous support of the community in Saving Animals From Euthanasia. Our main costs are routine veterinary treatments (such as vet checks, vaccinations, worming, flea treatment and of course desexing), emergency veterinary treatments (which in cases can cost hundreds), and the cost of transporting pets to their new homes. As well as these costs we also need to provide food, bedding, shelter, toys, etc. for the duration of a pet’s stay with SAFE.
It’s the little things that make the difference. We are in constant need of wet and dry pet food, bedding, toys, medical supplies (worming, flea treatments etc.), collars and leads, food and water bowls, litter trays etc. Whether pre-loved or new, we guarantee a pet in need will love them!
We don’t believe that money makes the world go round but it sure helps save lives. We ask that when you have made your donation that you email us at Busselton@safe.asn.au so that we can ensure your donation arrives safely, also let us know your full name and address if you require a receipt.
